Opportunity :

Parsons is seeking a General Superintendent for high-profile and complex heavy civil infrastructure construction projects . The ideal candidate will have experience on complicated transportation projects such as signature bridges, marine facilities, highways or rail/transit. The General Superintendent will manage the activities of superintendents, craft supervisors, foremen, and subcontractors to ensure effective operations and productivity. Ensures continuity of job progress and maximizes efficiencies related to the assigned area. Serves as the primary point of contact with the client and the subcontractors.The successful candidate will be well versed in labor and trade work practices and union requirements. Willingness to relocate to construction site locations is expected.


  • Makes recommendations and participates in the planning of construction operations. Outlines work programs, and designates critical areas and priorities.

  • Plans the sequence and number of construction activities to be placed in progress in the operational program.

  • Prepares the major construction equipment list for the project and monitors the assignment of equipment required by each craft to ensure maximum efficiency.

  • Reviews and approves field manpower requisitions for the employment of craft labor.

  • Conducts performance evaluations and recommends promotions and salary actions.

  • Provides detailed scheduling of daily construction activities and ensures project schedule is met..

  • Maintains surveillance of labor performance, manpower allocation, and effective use of tools and equipment. Ensures the use of sound construction practices to attain required quality control at the maximum efficiency and minimum cost.

  • Analyzes rigging requirements and other critical items to determine the best method of installation.

  • Monitors subcontractor operations including enforcement of all contractual obligations.

  • Understands and applies the company labor relations policies.

  • May oversee the work of lower-level Construction Superintendents.

  • Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

Requirements :

A 4-year degree in construction-related field (or equivalent construction-related work experience) , as well as 12 to 15 years of experience in field construction i s required. Experience in the construction of large civil/structural and/or industrial projects at domestic and/or foreign locations is preferred.

Is it essential that 10+ years of experience is in the capacity of multi disciplinary self-perform civil contractor work.

Airport experience is a big plus !

Requires a comprehensive knowledge of construction-related processes, as well as a thorough knowledge of industry practices.

Should be capable of performingphysical exertion such as long periods of standing; walking over rough, uneven, or rocky surfaces; lifting; recurring bending or similar activities.

Maturity in interaction and ability to operate self-sufficiently in the field.

Proven leadership and supervisory capability is also required.
