POSITION OVERVIEW :
Performs facility assessments and project support for Department of Labor Job Corps campuses nationwide by applying architectural design standards, practices, and techniques. The incumbent at this level is a fully-qualified Architect who is proficient in developing creative architectural solutions.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES :
Performs a variety of assignments in support of Department of Labor Job Corps facilities as follows:
- Primarily, serves as 1 of 6 Lead Architects who each lead efforts to perform comprehensive facility surveys at approximately 10 Job Corpscampuses annually.Each team consists ofLead Architect, Mechanical Engineer, Electrical Engineer. Specific job requirements:
-- Evaluate, documentand report on the current conditions of major building systems and their individual components to ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements.
-- Provides independent, professional recommendations for remaining service life and recommends appropriate actions associated with deficient conditions.
-- Conduct inventory of building components and identify deficient conditions for a variety of building types.
-- Recommends corrective actions for associated deficient conditions in sufficient detail to support cost estimates.
-- Provide written narrative descriptions about the general condition of systems.
-- Provide quality control for field surveys, data input and report output.
-- Communicates with management team on schedule and project status.
-- Leadsthe development of assessment findings report.
-- Develops long range plans for each assessed campus and presents to client
-- Coordinates detaiassessments with assigned project managers before, during, and after each assessment.
Develops scope of work packages as required for construction, design-build and design/study facility construction or renovation projects.
Performs design reviews for design-build and design projects.
Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
Bachelor's degree in Architecture (or equivalent) is required with 8-10 years of relevant experience, or Master's degree and 8+ years related experience. Professional registration is required at this level.
Requires proficiency in the application of architectural design standards, practices, techniques, and concepts. Proficiency in CAD and other PC software packages typically associated with architectural design is also required. The ability to make presentations to clients and others is preferred.
