Parsons is currently searching for a Lead Document Control Specialist to coordinate the flow of technical documents (requisitions, data books, drawings, specifications, calculations, material documentation) between project operations, engineering disciplines, and other related support groups. Documentation will be heavily electronic in nature. Incumbent is typically responsible for a large-sized project. Prior document control experience on engineering and construction projects enables the incumbent to handle all aspects of engineering document coordination from beginning to end of a project. Ability to interact with a large team including clients, partners and subs is crucial.

The successful candidate will ensure that pre-established requirements (e.g., which document numbering system will be used; how many and which signatures will be required for certain approvals, etc.) are satisfactorily met throughout the duration of the project. Maintains an established data distribution system and schedule for the assigned project based upon client, project, and supplier requirements. May revise system or schedule as required to ensure timely approvals and distribution. Expedites review, signature approval, and release of supplier and internally produced project documents. Establishes and maintains files and computerized indexes for active engineering documents. Generates electronic/hardcopy reports as needed by the project or management. Assists in preparing the project deliverables. Determines from the client what is required; collects the necessary data; secures approval from the client; and ensures reproduction and assembly in a timely manner. Prepares transmittals for engineering documents and requisitions. Arranges document cataloging, packing, and long-term storage or disposal of appropriate engineering documents at time of project closeout. Attends project meetings, as needed, to give status of requisitions or other documents and to be kept current on project status. Serves as engineering coordination job leader under the Principal Engineering Coordinator, providing technical guidance to Engineering Aides and Document Control Aides as required. Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma (or equivalent), as well as 12+ years of related work experience with at least 8-10 years in document controls (or an equivalent combination of formal education and work experience). Membership and/or certification in EMC (Enterprise Content Management) and/or ARMA (American Records Management Association) is preferred.

SKILLS/COMPETENCIES :

Knowledgeable of document control work processes and utilization of electronic systems for document management, as well as corporate procedures related to document management.

Ability to perform in a lead capacity, excellent written and oral communication skills, and a thorough knowledge of industry practices and company policies and procedures are required. Must also possess a thorough knowledge of database concepts, project-related software, and the ability to train others in its use.
