Overview

The successful candidate will have depth of experience in the field of civil and environmental engineering and have in-depth understanding of the engineering concepts associated with environmental investigation, remedial design, and remedial actions. The candidate will have experience managing field staff, budgets, schedules and subcontractors. Specific responsibilities may include:

  • Work with the PM to develop site-specific data quality objectives and establish the work scope and work plans. Responsible for scheduling, managing field sampling events (. e.g. soil, groundwater, sediment, drilling etc.) and hot spot removal actions, coordinating with subcontractors, and coordinating with procurement in support of site characterization and/or remedial design efforts.

  • Use professional knowledge and judgment to support evaluation of analytical environmental data, develop site conceptual models, evaluate site risk, and preparation of reports such as Remedial Investigation, Feasibility Study, Remedial Action Work Plans, and Construction Completion Report.

  • Assist in preparation of technical specifications, design remedial systems, and develop remedial actions to address risks to soil and groundwater. Manage field work to implement, operate and monitor remedial systems. Evaluate monitoring results to optimize system performance to meet design goals.

  • Provides support for other engineering activities as required.

  • Supervises field staff and project members, subcontractors and other associated personnel as required by the project.

  • Travel to field, meeting sites, client offices, and regulatory offices may be included.

  • Assist in determining budget estimates and staffing requirements for the defined scope and schedule. May assist with other administrative and technical duties. Develop necessary management skills under supervision of PM to grow into a task manager position.

  • Perform other responsibilities associated with this position, as may be appropriate.

Education and Experience

Qualifications

  • 4-year degree in Environmental or Civil Engineering, or similar, and 4 plus years of related work experience.Engineer in Training (EIT) Certificateor Professional Engineer (or relevant licensee) is preferred. Graduate degree is a plus but not required.

  • Geotechnical experience is preferred

  • Strong communication (written and oral) and good technical writing skills.

  • Strong organizational skills.

  • Attention to details and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously is critical.

  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint andAutoCAD experience a plus.

  • Experience managing all aspects of field event tasks, including deliverables.

  • Ability to work independently and in teams, exercising good judgment and influencing teams in a positive manner.

  • OSHA HAZWOPER 40-hour training and 8 hours’ supervisor training is a plus.
