Bridge Design Engineer is required for designing / assisting in designing bridges for projects involving concrete reinforced and prestressed / post-tensioned bridge designs. Perform bridge designs calculations in a professionally responsible and diligent way. Provide design input to CAD drafters and perform self-checks on drawings and calculations. Carry out assigned tasks reliably and accurately. Establish and maintain client base and working relationships. Participate in team settings.


a. Technical

  • Performs engineering tasks andparticularly important engineering work efficiently and accurately.

  • Assist seniors in completing designwork and production of drawings of complex and large size projects.

  • Be able to develop and check structuralschemes including comparisons of alternatives and prepare concept designreports;

  • Be able to prepare and deliverpresentations to internal teams;

  • Be able to produce comprehesinve, accurateand professional structural calcualtions.

  • Develop design details (manually and inCAD) for production of drawings.

  • Willing to learn new tools such as BIMand model structures using these tools.

  • Be able to independentlyobjectively check works produced by another design team member.

a. Teamwork andcoordination

  • Provides technical guidance to CAD Designers, Drafters, and lowerlevel Engineers working on the same project.

  • Maintaingood communication and cooperation with all project team members.

  • Understandand demonstrate value of diversity. Resolve conflicts with minimum noise.

  • Understandand respect the hierarchy in decision making; follow decisions and instructionsgiven by Line Manager/ senior engineers.

  • Reviews supplier shop drawings andsubmittals.

  • Prepares and issues specifications,data sheets, and other construction documents.

  • Understandthe importance of timeliness to internal and external clients. Achievereliability and credibility in regard to meeting deadlines. Be punctual.

  • Maximizebillable time commensurate with responsibilities.

  • Always keepcommitments, particularly time and cost commitments. Acceptance of personalresponsibilities.

  • Coordinatethe work of the project team with other engineering disciplines through liaisonwith other professionals.

  • Completes other responsibilitiesassociated with this position as may be appropriate.


  • 4-year degree in Engineering (or related field) with minimum of 5 years of related work experience.


  • Membership of Industry recognized professionalinstitute; Preferably has attained professional recognition (PE orChartered status);

  • Receptive approach and Flexibility;

  • Excellent self management skills;

  • Strong technicalskills;

  • Knowledge of corporate standards; Good projectmanagement skills and business acumen;

  • Well versed in structural analysis software such asMIDAS / SAP2000 / CSI Bridge / STAAD;

  • Familiar with BIM process / procedures and platformsfor e.g. Autodesk / Bentley / Tekla;

  • Well versed in analysis and design of bridge projectsusing American and Eurocodes;

  • Guide team members to produce designs and manageproduction by junior Engineers and draftspersons of designs of bridges,prepare design reports and get the related drawings prepared;
