To lead Parsons MEA Geotechnical and Tunneling teams. As a Technical Director of Geotechnics and Tunneling, she/he will have ultimate responsibility for the technical delivery on projects assigned to including, bids/tenders, client liaison and leading a team of engineers and technicians. She/he will act as a leader for technical elements, advising the client and their representatives while also giving the team technical direction and supervision, reviewing and approving designs and monitoring progress for a range of foundations, Earthwork lateral support (ELS) works and tunnels (TBM, SEM cut and cover).

She/he will lead the team’s effort to deliver Geotechnical Interpretative Report, as well the team’s review effort on the factual and interpretative geotechnical reports, submitted by various developer’s consultants/contractors. She/he will lead the team’s review effort for proposed dewatering schemes and comment on the constructability and design of temporary/permanent ground support systems proposed by multiple developer’s consultants/contractors to support deep basement excavations. She/he will lead the team’s evaluation effort of the effect of the proposed support system on the existing and future infrastructures, e.g. utilities, roadways and buildings adjacent to the plots and provide recommendations to the Client. The job will include site inspections during construction as needed.

  • Manageand coordinate projects from feasibility to detailed design and sitesupervision where required.

  • verseedevelopment of conceptual designs.

  • Developmentof project controls and monitoring of progress against the programme.

  • Ensurethat designs assessments and checking of designs, are per relevant Standardsand Codes of Practice.

  • Approvedesigns, assessments and calculations per quality procedures.

  • Overseepreparation of safety plans and risk assessments.

  • Managecoordination of works undertaken by external sub-contractors and designcheckers.

  • Liaiseswith clients.

  • Mentor,build and develop a team of geotechnical and tunnel engineers, assisting themthrough chartered status and giving guidance to them, so they become recognizedindustry experts.

  • Maximizebusiness development opportunities where possible.

  • Preparebids and tenders when required.

  • Deliverhigh-level technical quality works, to program and budget.

  • Ensurecontinued implementation of the QA/QC for geotechnical deliverables.

  • Maintainthe review processes and develop where required according to projectrequirements.

  • Maintainand Grow awareness and risk of geotechnical issues on MEA projects.

  • Providegeotechnical services to multidisciplinary teams and projects across the MEAregion.

  • Workclosely with the clients and demonstrate strong client relationship skills.

  • Coordinateresources, provide forward estimates of capacity requirements to the Executivemanagement team.

  • Providegeotechnical input in (multidisciplinary) proposals.


  • Master'sdegree in Geotechnical Engineering.

  • Possessa minimum of 20 years' experience in the tunneling / geotechnical sector,within a design consultancy environment.

  • High-leveltechnical skills and expertise in soil/structure interaction.

  • Accomplishedteam leader with the ability to support, mentor and develop less experiencedengineers with a demonstrable record of building and developing a team ofgeotechnical/civil/tunnel engineers.

  • Soundunderstanding of health and safety Regulations, risk assessment process and befamiliar with international standards.

  • Strongleadership and strong decision-making skills.

  • Aproven client relationship building skills and will be able to lead technicalinput for bids and tenders.

  • Proventrack record in leading ground engineering design teams and management ofdesign delivery and ground related risks in a design and build environment.

  • Possessstrong problem solving and interpersonal skills.

  • Communicateswell across all levels of the business.

  • Demonstratesa high level of accountability and independent decision-making.

  • Excellentwritten and verbal communication skills; the ability to write a clear andconcise technical report is essential.

  • Experiencedin design of geotechnical works for rail and road schemes including slopes,foundations, retaining structures, strengthened earthworks, tunnels, track bedand road pavement foundations, and ground improvement.

  • In-depthknowledge of the GCC working conditions, including client expectations,geotechnical conditions, standards and codes.
