Position Overview: Ballistic Missile Defense (BMD) Systems Engineering is seeking a Systems Analyst/Engineer to support the System Assessment Directorate (MDA DE/EEA) in all aspects of program activities in a system engineering organization. Primary duties include working on a team of element functional analysts, defining assessment requirements and evaluating test results to characterize the interoperability, capabilities, and limitations of new BMD element deliveries. A broad understanding of BMD system functions: radar, fire control, weapons and operational concepts is a significant plus. This position requires excellent written and verbal skills as well as exceptional MS office skills.
Describe what we need the employee to accomplish in this role.
Serve as an BMDS element analyst identifying testing requirements to assess new BMD capabilities
Prepare inputs to assessment requirements and analysis plans, manage product development timeline and communicate technical and schedule risk
Analyze output of BMDS-level models to identify key test points and conditions that bound an operational performance space or define a new incremental capability
Contribute to assessment requirements, identify assessment sub-objectives, critical assessment conditions, and key test points to provide a body of evidence to make recommendations regarding acceptance of new BMD element software with a focus on the new capabilities
Review technical descriptions of software upgrades from element program offices and develop an understanding of the new capabilities to be assessed
Assist with post-test assessment of the capabilities and limitations of new BMDS deliveries and preparing briefings with recommendations for additions to the BMD Operational Capability Baseline
Provide input to information/decision papers and briefings, and staff meeting charts
Technical background with demonstrated ability to interpret, summarize and communicate engineering issues and test results
Systems Engineering experience in defense or related industry
Capability to develop and present reports and presentations to senior management-level personnel
Desire experience with BMDS, including familiarity with radar, fire control, or weapon systems
Specific BMDS element expertise is flexible, but position will replace an analyst who focused on Ground-based Midcourse Defense capabilities—so prefer GMD experience
