Parsons is seeking to hire an Estimator, with emphasis on structure concrete and mechanical process piping, to perform a variety of standard estimating activities on hard dollar bids and proposals for Bid-Build, Design-Build, and other forms of alternative delivery project pursuits.
The Estimator should have a minimum of three years of field and/or estimating experience for a multi-disciplinary heavy civil infrastructure contractor. The ideal candidate will have experience on water / wastewater projects.
Reviews project plans and specifications. Defines the specific scope intended by the contract documents. Prepares quantity takeoffs. Determines effective means and methods with which to build the work. Develops crews and productivities and inputs into the estimating software. Contacts and collaborates with subs and suppliers to develop their best pricing. Coordinates schedule input.
Assists the Lead Estimator with historical data and estimate database management with the accumulation, evaluation, and documentation of cost data retrieved from completed discrete design and/or construction contracts, inclusive of work activity, delivery means and methods, productivity, activity durations, supervision and man-hour utilization.
Presents estimates to senior managers for review.
Estimate, solicit, negotiate and finalize prices for materials, supplies and sub consultants.
4-year degree in Engineering or Construction Management or related field (or equivalent work experience) and 3-5 years of related work experience involving typical estimating activities.
Excellent communication skills.
Ability to effectively present ideas and work to team members.
Ability to perform standard estimating activities typical to the heavy civil construction industry.
Familiarity with typical project controls software such as Primavera scheduling software, Microsoft Office tools, and SharePoint is preferred.
Must have a clear understanding of, and ability to work with construction contract documents, drawings and specifications.
Ability to perform standard estimating activities typical to the engineering and construction industry is required. In addition, good written and verbal communication skills, familiarity with company and project procedures and practices.
Must come out of and/or have experience withinself-perform construction industry to be considered
