POSITION OVERVIEW:

  • Ready to put your interior design expertise to use serving your country? No need to sign up for the Army, but there is a need for an interior designer who is looking for a new challenge with a top planning team support to military installations.

  • This position provides the opportunity to travel across the United States and internationally, get exposure to a broad variety of architecture and facility types, and contribute to concepts and designs that will improve institutional efficiency, reduce operations costs, and create more livable and workable environments for soldiers, families, and the federally employed civilian workforce.

  • Under general supervision, the candidate is responsible for conducting space utilization analysis; designing building renovation and construction concepts for client understanding; and translating industrial and military support processes into space requirements. Parsons extensive experience in this field, combined with your design knowledge, will propel your career forward

  • Your day might vary between coordinating activities including relocation and inventory management or you may support business development activities by participating in proposal development and providing visual aids (e.g., finish boards, etc.) for client presentations.

  • In this role you willperform a variety of assignments related to interior design studies including: conducting client interviews and building site surveys, programming, and space planning.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Performs a variety of assignments related to interior design studies including: conducting client interviews and building site surveys, programming, space planning and analysis, and preparation of construction documents.

  • Develops design concepts and design criteria including floor plan layouts and other architectural concepts.

  • Writes planning level explanations for design standards, concept renderings, and other installation planning documents.

  • Develops CAD drawings, renderings, layouts, and other visual tools for usein planning analysis and construction cost estimating

  • Ensures compliance with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements related to fire evacuation, quality work environment, Architectural Barriers Act, and/or LEED sustainability design.

  • Recommends refinements to interior design standards.

  • Keeps abreast of current technologies via technical subscriptions and attendance at conferences.

  • Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

We prefer candidates with experience:

Planning:

  • Knowledge in the principles and practices of Federal Planning, LEED Sustainability, Resiliency Planning;

  • Capable of demonstrating verbal communication skills sufficient for working directly with clients as a professional, an engineer, and a representative of Parsons;

  • Effective written communication sufficient to contributing to and authoring planning and programming documentation.

Military

  • Service in an Active or Reserve Component of the US Army, Navy, Marines, or Air Force;

  • Former or current dependent (Spouse or Child) of an Active Duty Service Member and lived on a military installation; or

  • Civilian employment experience with a military installation or organization.

Specialized Software and Applications:

  • Training and Experience US military enterprise databases (GFEBS, RPLANS, iNFADS, PAX, etc);

  • Security Clearance; and/or

  • Advanced technical capability with GIS, Adobe CS, or other relevant and emerging software;

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture or Interior Design (or equivalent) is required with 8-10 years of relevant experience, or Master's degree and 8+ years related experience.

  • NCIDQ (National Council for Interior Design Qualification) Certification is required at this level.

  • Additional relevant certifications (e.g., PMP TM , LEED TM , CCM) are preferred.

SKILLS/COMPETENCIES :

  • Requires proficiency in the application of interior design standards, practices, techniques, and concepts.

  • Proficiency in CAD and other PC software packages typically associated with interior design is also required.

  • The ability to make presentations to clients and others is preferred.
