We are looking for a Construction Engineer/ Registered Engineer to support our SEATAC construction program. If you are the right one for us, you have experience working with RFI / RFP, Red Line references, preliminary document review, and construction coordinating with contractors.

POSITION OVERVIEW :

Performs a variety of moderately-complex field engineering assignments related to self-performed design-build heavy civil infrastructure projects including highways, bridges, tunnels, rail, and water and wastewater treatment plants. The engineer at this level regularly engages in problem analysis and exercises discretion and independent judgment in selecting and applying engineering theories and general industry practices. May give functional guidance to craft or lower-level technical personnel. Willingness to relocate to construction site locations is expected.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES :

Performs various field engineering assignments involving the monitoring and technical evaluaton of work in progress at a field construction site. Establishes and maintains liaison with discipline design engineering staff.

Reviews and interprets discipline design drawings and specifications to ensure current revision level and feasibility to perform technical execution of work. Provides resolution for technical engineering problems within the assigned discipline and coordinates application of solutions.

Provides technical guidance to site personnel regarding installations. Ensures that all work within his/her assigned scope of responsibility is installed in accordance with plans, specifications, and industry and quality standards. This includes ensuring that all tests and inspections are peformed, witnessed, and documented in accordance with approved procedures.

Collaborates with construction management to eliminate any hazards associated with the work that may adversely affect the environment or the safety or hearlth of employees. Ensures that personnel of the assigned group engage in safe work practices in compliance with site-specific safety procedures and industry standards.

Monitors discipline construction schedules and assists in progress appraisal. Provides schedule and progress appraisal data to engineering and construction management.

Monitors material procurement and deliveries to ensure timeliness in support of construction activities and schedule within the assigned discipline.

Maintains a daily log for permanent record of project construction, as well as discipline data for the final project turnover and report.

Maintains construction technical catalogs, supplier data, and other literature pertaining to the project.

May assist field superintendents and construction management in portions of larger more-complex activities as directed.

Performs other responsibilities associated with this positon as may be appropriate.

PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

4-year degree in a related engineering discipline is required. Typically incumbents have at least one year of related experience at a field construction site.

SKILLS/COMPETENCIES :

Requires a working knowledge of engineering and construction-related processes, as well as some familiarity with industry practices. Also requires good written and oral communication skills. In addition, familiarity with CAD and other software packages typically associated with engineering and construction is required.
