Intern would be assisting project engineers in the formulation of a rollout schedule, learning to use engineering software for the Arc Flash and short circuit analysis, assist project manager/ project engineer in field coordination with sites, learn to review site drawings for relevant information under the supervision of an engineer, accompany an engineer on a site survey and learn how to capture relevant equipment information in the field, uploading of deliverables onto the project SharePoint site, learning the FAA and OSHA requirements for fall protection systems and how to apply them in the field, and accompany project manager on a site survey and learn how to capture relevant information in the field.
Under direction of a degreed engineer, performs a variety of basic to moderately-difficult engineering support assignments requiring a fundamental knowledge of design/drafting standards, practices, and techniques. The incumbent at this level typically takes engineering notes, specifications, rough sketches, etc., and formalizes them into working drawings. Assignments are designed to develop a practical knowledge of equipment, facilities, and systems, and their interrelationships within a particular engineering discipline.
Utilizes a CAD workstation to prepare engineering drawings consisting of basic arrangements, layouts, flow sheets, assemblies, isometrics, etc., from rough sketches and/or from general engineering and design information according to established standards and procedures.
Utilizes technical manuals and directives to ensure compliance with codes and company policies. Becomes familiar with various standards and codes such as ANSI, PFI, and ASME.
Compiles data and performs dimensional and routine calculations required for the preparation of drawings.
Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
Incumbent must be enrolled in an Engineering curriculum at an accredited college or university and have completed at least one year of studies in a major Engineering discipline (e.g., Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, etc.).
Requirements include PC literacy, a working knowledge of CAD, and a working knowledge of other computer software used to complete design assignments.
Must be able to meet customer security requirements. A background check by Federal Authorities will be performed.
T4 Program Summary: The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) awarded the Technical Support Services Contract 4 (T4) to Parsons in August 2012. Parsons is the prime contractor. This $1.3 billion+ contract has a 4-year base period with two 3-year options. The statement of work includes a variety of activities that support the FAA’s Capital Investment Plan (CIP) modernization efforts: Site selection and engineering, construction, environmental and fire/life safety, equipment installation and testing, CAD, and other technical services as required. Work is performed across the nation in each of the FAA’s nine regions as well as the Aeronautical Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and the Technical Center in Atlantic City, New Jersey and in several U.S. territories. An average staff of 400-500 with a peak staff over 650 supports this contract, in addition to those subcontractors who perform construction work.
