Do you have experience in the electrical field? Are you someone that can manage folks and enjoys working, leading and managing projects? We are looking for an Electrical Engineering Manager to provide management and direction for the electrical engineering team working on major rail and transit facilities projects in the DC area !!

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES :

Reviews and approves discipline staffing budget estimates and staffing assignment schedules on medium to large rail and transit facilities projects. Maintains appropriate staffing level, including temporary personnel, as needed. Reviews and approves staff forecasting reports.

Manages all engineering and design efforts for electrical discipline as required for ongoing Rail/Transit Facilities Projects . Coordinates all discipline staffing requirements for ongoing projects.

Monitors the quality and progress of the electrical discipline on each project, ensuring that production requirements are satisfied. Works closely with Project Managers to resolve any existing or forecasted problems related to electrical discipline staffing, quality of work, schedule performance, or productivity.

Establishes standards and procedures manuals for the electricaldiscipline. Recommends improvements to electrical department procedures.

Recruits, interviews, and evaluates prospective employees. Hires, offers personnel development, conducts performance evaluations, counsel’s employees, takes corrective actions (as required), and approves terminations. Ensures that new employees receive orientation on company policies and procedures.

Supports pre-contract and business development efforts as required, serving as technical consultant.

Ensures performance within overhead budgets authorized for the electrical discipline.

Typical electrical facilities design tasks include but are not limited to:

• Low and Medium Voltage electrical distribution systems including protective relaying.

• Control circuit design. Position control and interlocking. PLC system design.

• Site/Facility Lighting Systems including photometric calculations.

• Short circuit study and load flow analyses. Arc Flash Hazard Analyses. Coordination of protective devices.

• Lightning Protection and Grounding. Surge protection.

• Standby power generation. Uninterruptible power supplies.

• Fire alarm and security systems;

PREFERREDEDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

4-year degree in Engineering (or related field) and 15-20 years of related work experience, including supervisory/managerial experience. Professional Engineer registration is required. Registration in Washington DC, Virginia or Maryland is preferred.

Experience in the preparation of construction documents (drawings, specifications, design calculations, reports) is required.

Rail and transit facilities electrical / power experience required

Experience in the use of AutoCAD 2015 or later is preferred.

Experience in delivering projects in Revit is preferred.\

SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:

Proven ability to perform in a supervisory/managerial capacity, excellent written and oral communications skills, and a thorough knowledge of industry practices and regulations are required. Must also possess a thorough knowledge of current technology and the capabilities and efficiencies of specific engineering software for use in completing engineering assignments.

Ability to successfully complete client Roadway Worker Protection safety training is required.
